Schoolhouse Rock!!!!!!!!!!
They love to sing the songs and that's how I learned my multiplication tables waaaaay back in the '70's! (and interjections, adjectitives, nouns, conjunction junction... Oh wait, they're just conjunctions!) Big Grin
I also give speed drills and award a roll of pennies when they get 100%

I like the idea of teaching math facts by using skip counting. Who else of some clever songs for each of the numbers?

Addition facts or Multiplication facts?
For addition, I've used the Sesame Street song. Sorry, you'll have to call me to hear it sung - but the words are '2+2 is 4, 4+4 is 8, 8+8 is 16, 16 and 16 are 32'. From there, my 8yo has learned doubles through this concept from a great little company I found through ICHE's conference in 2005.....Hands to Mind, Inc. I'll repost the url. These are awesome little booklets of games. Sorry, the multiplication version is buried deep in the 'next year curriculum' box. But we've been working on addition facts:
1. Doubles game - 1 + 1 think of bicycle, 2 + 2 think of car, 3 + 3 think of bus, 4 + 4 think of spider, 5 + 5, think of hands, 6 + 6 think of eggs, 7 + 7 think of calendar, 8 + 8 think of crayon box, 9 + 9 think of domino, 10 + 10 think of hands and toes together.
There's 15 games that strengthen Math facts and all supplies included in this little itty bitty plastic container so it all stays neat and together!
Author: Kathleen Carden Title: Facts without Flashcards (Addition and Subtraction or Multiplication and Division). ISBN 0-9771506-0-7. I think the cost was about $18 for the kit. Well worth the cost for my 2nd grader who couldn't add in his head (fingers were required for all problems). Now, after playing games twice a week for the past 3mo, he's counting in his head and even going up to 20 with various problems (20-8=12).
Hope the info helps!
Blessings to you and yours,
Jenn
