We are taking 9 of our college students to South Dakota in June for a VBS Mission Trip. We are limited on our funds, and any cheap ideas or left overs you may have, we would put them to use. Thanks and God Bless. We are in Springfield, Missouri.
Game Day Central is a great theme to do on a limited budget. Have your students each bring or borrow some sports equipment for easy decorating such as basketballs, skates, helmuts, hockey sticks (any sport). Several of the crafts can be done on paper or card stock - pennants, picture frames, prayer journals, megaphones. You could have the church members (where you are holding your misssion trip) save things like cereal boxes, cardboard or folders for crafts. Have the church you are going to make decorations (paper and markers needed) ahead of time or with your group, so they are an important part of their VBS.
Hey, I'm in Branson,MO. Check with lifeway, They may may know of a church in the area that is having VBS before you leave to get and or borrow Corriculum and decor from. We give ours away every year to another church in St Louis to use later in the summer. Also, a great tip, Sheets! Easy to put up easy to take down. Great for murals and cheap decor. Local hotels get rid of lightly stained ones all the time. I'm using them to make giant pennants to hang in sancturay with the ABC's on them. Thumbtacks hold them on the wall. Make a stadium backdrop on one. Go crazy! Just think how easy to transport.
