I am interested in ideas or borrowing large-scale decorations for worship rally and/or church exterior. We are near Memphis.

Hi,
We just finished tonite. it was great. we are to far away to let you barrow. But wanted you to know what we did. #1-Get someone in church to make a rickshaw.old bike wheel -wood cart-red custion seat-long pole.#2-rent gong-#3-go on line to Stumps-it a deco for proms-you will see Plaleces of the Spring Moon. We bought that but I would abvise to try and make-it was very hard to get together but the results is worth it. Also there are lanters on poles-lke nite lite- we made them with carpet rolls and paper lanters-very good #4We hung red japaness banners on wall in back with the japaness sign for faith-pray or love and them. Add lighting and musice and there you go.

I had a view ideas for the big objects. I am collecting empty carpet rolls from carpet stores, they are usually eager to get rid of. I am cutting some down to about a 6 to 12 inch height to resemble a flower bed border and putting greenery around then I am leaving others at full height to look like large bamboo poles and then sticking greenery in the top to look like trees. I am then taking blue plastic wrap bunching it up with white lights beneath it and then taking brown paper sacks filling with newspaper and then shaping to look like rocks to place around my blue plastic wrap japanese pond. I have clipped art alot of the big items, rickshaw and temple, but instead of using plywood I use blueboard, much cheaper and you can cut with an exacto knife, it paints will too! Remember if you use the blue board, make sure you take off the clear plastic sheet that you don't realize is there until you have traced your clip art and then painted it and it off comes off!!! Hope this helps

Ken,

I use to live in Memphis. I am now at Wrightsville Beach, NC. We have a large wood pagoda with lights, two large wooden take out boxes, several painted sheets, straw hats, lanterns, etc. We have two wooden custom built rickshaws as well. When is your VBS?

Hi aubreeejorden,
Thanks for the Rickshaw idea. Are wood carts easy to find? We have put off making a Rickshaw to last because we had no ideas. We are in PA and our VBS starts July 26th. So we don't really have a lot of time. If anybody else has other ideas for a Rickshaw or knows how I could get a wood cart please let me know. You can e-mail me at mohrmann@usadatanet.net.
Thanks and God Bless.
