In the Middle Children's Teacher's Packet Item 2 the Outrigger Island Title Banner, and the daily Bible Verses have the 3-D effect. It is kinda cool, very neat idea - although to me it still looks the same even through the 3-D glasses.
My concern is a lot of churches, especially the smaller ones, don't get to purchase the learner cards due to not enough money in the budget. It's going to look kinda wild to them with no glasses.
Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I haven't looked at the poster, but I had that same concern at first. We're fortunate enough to purchase the learner cards, but I did notice that you can buy extra 3-D glasses on their own. A good suggestion might be to buy a pack or two of these and let the kids take turns looking at the poster. You wouldn't wear the glasses for the whole class anyway.

I'll have to take a look. We are a large church but do not purchase the learner cards. I wish they wouldn't make it so that you almost "need" to purchase the cards. I still have not thoroughly looked over the material yet.

Jill, I agree with you and Jan. Its good that each item (ie learner cards, pre-packaged craft kits, etc) can compliment and reinforce the lesson=however, not all churches can afford them. We need to remember, the children do not have a LEADER GUIDE either.

I really appreciate everyone voicing their concerns over the learner cards. I'm a first year director on a limited budget at a small church. This was something that I was stressing over. I love the idea of the kids taking home the learner cards because I think it's something that parents can look at with them and who knows, it could help out unchurched parents. But on the other hand the expense is something I don't know we can handle.

Lifeway does sell just the packs of 3-D glasses. So, those on limited budgets can still get them even if they don't purchase the learner cards. Hope that helps!

If anyone goes to the NASCAR races the DLP booth has a 3D movie that they show. The glasses are thrown away at the end. With a few stickers "Hawaiian" stickers the DLP is covered.

I had the same concern, so I googled 3D glasses and found several sites that sell them and they are a little cheaper than the Lifeway ones. I know it's hard when your budget is so limited, like ours always is.

By the time my teachers mentioned the need for 3D glasses our budget was tapped out. So we went to a local "IMAX" theater and told them what we needed. They DONATED 100 pairs of glasses that were left over from a movie that was no longer playing. I couldn't believe how easily they said YES!
