Hi! We are new to our community and church; my husband became pastor of a church here in March. We are struggling to connect with other homeschoolers with teens, as well as dealing with church members who want our children to be in public schools. Anyone out there in the McMinnville, TN, area who could befriend us?!!

Hi mrosemartin!
Welcome! You are balancing a lot in your home. I will pray for a peaceful transition time. I remember there is another pastor's wife here on the board somewhere. Speak up! Let's make mrosemartin feel welcome.
Don't forget to go to the introduce yourself section and tell us about your family.
Blessings,
Christine

Welcome, mrosemartin! I am new to homeschooling and these message boards; but I wanted to encourage you to check into the Homeschool Groups in your area. My dh and two kids (6 & 4 yrs old) and I will be moving from NJ to the Nashville area in July. I was able to find the Middle TN Home Education Association online. The website for MTHEA is www.mthea.org . I'm not sure if McMinnville falls into Middle TN or not, but there are other Homeschool groups in TN. If you go to www.tnhea.org/organizations.htm, you should find a list of Homeschool groups in TN. I keep hearing from all my homeschooling friends here in NJ that this is one of the best steps I could be taking. In my short experience, I am finding that the folks in the MTHEA are friendly and helpful! I can't wait to join the group and be able to interact even more! I hope you find the same in whatever group you are able to join! I believe the MTHEA has message boards, too, which is always helpful! I will say a prayer for you and your family to make connections... i know how important it is! God's blessings on you! ---erica@senecal.us

Where in the Nashville area are you relocating? We are in McMinnville. I contacted a homeschool mom that I have been in touch with since before our move, and she is arranging a lunch for tommorrow for my teens and me to meet 4 other moms and kids. So I am hopeful of making some connections there.
May God bless you with an easy transition!

Welcome to McMinnville: Our family moved here about a year ago. I am homeschooling a 12 year old. I have never done this before, but this is what he wanted. We are on our 2nd day. I am to looking for others in McMinn. who are homeschooling. Would love to get to know you. Stick by your guns with homeschooling, if it is right for your family then thats all that matters.
