Hi Ladies,
At the beginning of a school year is a good time to get in good habits for having our quiet time. Anyone have any ideas that have really had an impact on you for being consistent in going deep with God?

This is an area I always struggle with! We start school today and we're trying something new. I've always scheduled Bible as part of our school day, but usually it's the kids doing their assignments and I would use that time to get other things done. This year, everyone does Bible at the same time. Not all of us together, but all at the same time, each doing our own thing. We'll start the school day with 30 minutes of Bible time, and I'm going to really enforce that everyone spend that time on reading or studying their Bible, praying, and getting our minds focused on God. I'm really hoping this will help, not just for me but for my girls as well.

I try to get up before anyone else for my quiet time but since the new baby, I haven't been very consistant.
We do a Bible study after breakfast everymorning. I will read a chapter, we'll discuss it, use it as vocabulary, handwriting, sentence sturcture...
Then we have our prayer time. Sometimes Baby doesn't cooperate very well and the lesson is short b ut usually it works out fine.
I know when I don't have my quiet time, the day doesn't go as well.

I probably shouldn't be responding because do not home school, but this may help someone. I do a couple of things to keep in touch with God while school is in session. I drive my children to school, so on the way there we say a prayer about all the things we are thankful for & then sing bible songs. The kids all have reading homework, so I have each read scripture & a devotion aloud.

Good for you, JK! What a great way to get focused for the day!
We've been going back to basics at my house - reading 5 psalms and 1 chapter from proverbs every morning. We miss once in a while, but it has been a tremendous blessing.
I'm trying to get Daddy to teach a book of the Bible in the evenings, but not much success here.
Anyone have any ideas for spurring hubby on to read Scripture with the kids?
Blessings,
Christine

My day seems to get started all too quickly and sometimes before I know it - my bible time is lost. I'm always tired since I wake up 3-4 times per night with my infant. I know this will eventually pass but until then, it's a real struggle.... any suggestions???

Hi Andrea,
I remember those weary days! I remember praying while I rocked and fed infants in the middle of the night. I remember having a Bible in every room of the house so I could grab a few minutes at a time. I remember having a good mom's devotional book available to sneak 5 minutes to encourage myself. I remember (and still use!) listening to the Bible on tape in the car or while I did housework.
No matter how busy I was, I remember that God understood and held me in his hand during those busy times. I thanked him often!
Blessings,
Christine
