Do any of you have the problems we're having with food allergies? We're used to the usual peanuts and such but this year it's gluten. We're a very small town very far away from the big cities that might have the special needs we have to cover the situation.
As to that, I also wonder why we're not getting allergy-free alternatives from Lifeway. I know they can't answer everything since I'm sure everyone has an allergic reaction to something but there are the biggies that can be covered. And the parents are becoming no help. They promise to bring their children's snacks then don't. I refuse to let a child sit and watch his friends enjoy their snacks while he has nothing. How are you dealing with the allergy situation? So far I've emailed two chefs, one of which is with the Celiac Disease group, checked a plethora of websites and emailed some area grocery stores. It wouldn't be quite so bad but the mom doesn't tell us about this allergy till today, the first day of VBS. Oh yeah, fun year, I just know as bad as this is, God will bless us in other ways, prayerfully, a huge amount of salvations! |

We have had this situation for a few years. Celiac is a growing allergy in our area. Check out the following website: www.celiac.com
Another site that deals with various allergies are: www.kidswithfoodallergies.org I hope this helps. Last year we had two children with peanut allergies, 2 with celiac and one with an allergy to cabonation (so kool-aid worked fine instead of sodas). |
