Just wanted to say that we had a very successful week with Jungle Jaunt. We had about 181 kids every day! The enthusiasm the children had even on the 95 degree days was contagious!! The music was great but we wanted more!! Four songs was not enough! I also would have liked to see a program for 7th and 8th grade. One of the best parts of the program was Coco the gorilla. One of our teens dressed as a gorilla to greet the kids every day and dance up front during opening and closing. The kids went nuts!! That was a great idea. Also our whole lobby was a rain forest complete with a real waterfall and mist! I would be happy to share our ideas on this!

Do you have any pictures to share? We are gearing up to use Jungle Juant as our Children's Church program for 15 weeks. I would love any pointers on decorating! I am really interested in your water feature!

Thanx!

I'm trying to get my hands on our pictures. The waterfall was constructed with a 6ft ladder, a baby pool, heavy tarp, circulating pump, and some hose. We were fortunate to have some dads that know this kind of stuff and put it all together. We decorated it with large rocks, a lot of greenery and plants and snakes in the water. We also used a fog machine to make it look like mist coming off of the falls. The jungle noise on the CD is the perfect sound effect to go with the falls. I will try to get some pics ASAP. Good Luck!!

For our VBS which is Sept. 8, 2008 we are doing The Jungle Jaunt Theme and would love some input on decorating tips. I love the waterfall idea and we have a few very creative ladies at our Church, but still would appreciate any ideas or tips. Thank you!!
This is my 1st post

I did forget to add -- we are a small church and usually have around 50-60 kids for VBS.

Hi! We made a waterfall with a ladder, some heavy plastic sheeting and a garden hose. It was all in a large kiddie pool. We camouflaged everything greenery, rocks, and plants. A sound machine with waterfall sounds and jungle noises helped. We also added a fog machine that really made it a jungle. Another fun thing we did is have one of our teens dress in a gorilla suit to help with the music. The kids loved Coco! My other favorite thing was a church member dressed in a George of the Jungle costume and gave a Tarzan yell to let the kids know to change classes. It was a lot of fun. A good way to make jungle vines is to take brown paper(like the kind to wrap boxes in) and twist it to make your vines, then hang them from the ceiling. Old fish netting hanging from the ceiling with jungle leaves on it is good atmosphere. Good luck and God Bless!!

Thank you so much! Those are GREAT ideas. I only have one question, how did you create the rocks. Did you use brown paper also and cover boxes or did you have other ways of doing this ?

The rocks are so easy to make!! We simply took brown paper bags and stuffed them with newspaper. Then we taped down the tops and sponge painted them "rock" colors! You can do this in all sizes. We also used real rocks from around the property. Good Luck!!

The brown paper bags stuffed with newspaper is a great idea! I noticed on one of your post, that you had mentioned pictures of your waterfall. Did you end up posting those pictures anywhere?
God Bless
