My dh isn't sure what he's doing about school. OTOH, he does have a rare blood disorder and we need to consider things like what if something happens to him, kinda stuff.
I'm considering taking a course to become a medical transscriptionist. I hear it's hard work but it could be a stay at home job and that means I'll be able to homeschool my kids as well. The info I got said some don't make more than $18,000 a year but I've heard otherwise about MT's. It would mean going further into debt for now, but if it could help us in the end, I know that would be well worth it. Does anyone do this kind of work - or any other kind of stay at home job? |

ABC did a series on working from home last year and gave some really good leads on at home jobs. One was like Alpine Access, an online customer service company where you would log in at home and work customer service calls @ 40 hours a week. It was a good position - a company position. There were others like it that were contract positions as well.
You might try searching ABC's website - GMA Work From Home... It may pull it up for you. |

Do you mean "ABC" the tv network? (and thank you!)

Yes... The Good Morning America Show did the story... If I recall correctly. Alpine Access is out of Colorado. I would have to invest in a phone that was hard wired to the wall and could accomodate a headset with a mute feature, meaning it could not be wireless or cordless. I checked into a multiline phone with a mute feature. I believe the entire investment would have been approximately $85.00 and the wages very competitive. The requirement was to have a computer with [specified operating options] and to go through an application and several interviews by phone.
I'm trying to think of more information that I have. I don't even think I have the emails from when I checked into it. Let me know if you find it... and in the meantime I will do some looking around. Try this link: Alpine Acc*ss Blessings. |

Thanks, Michelle! I did find the 3 companies the show mentioned. I had to yahoo GMA and the work at home things with it. It worked.
I'm a little "ditzy" tonight though. Pretty tired from too much fluid in my ears. And we just got back from the library - a 4H meeting that didn't happen! (what did happen was I didn't read the email that the leader sent |

Had one pastor tell me his family member did the transcription thing and did just fine.
Also Dr. Laura and some of the Stay at Home Mom web sites have great links for work from home ideas. Also, Dan Miller has a good book out No MOre MOndays and 48 Days to the Work You Love is another of his. He's big on helping people think of good ways to work from home and use their creativity. |

snmom - How's the work at home job search coming? When you said you found 3 on GMA, did you mean the video's?
I'd like to find a work at home opportunity too, so I could live in a different location. There's so many scams out there, it's hard to know which ones are for real. Also, many are pyramid schemes, which I'm not interested in at all. |

I still need to look further. Things are pretty crazy lately. The medical transcription school - I'll have to find my info for you. I'm debating about that one since I'm not sure if I could do it. OTOH, it would be something to work at home with.

catsrus,
I finally found some info I'm passing on: The Andrews School seems to be the best - http://www.andrewsschool.com by the American Academy of MT's (?) http://www.aamt.org - I think I said the right name of the place. |

Hope you located some ideas.
I dont see that particular pastor hardly ever and it didnt sound like it was a recent school the relative attended. I know Dr. Laura has excellent articles and references on her web site. Just look for work from home section. |
