Hello, This is my first post. I have led several Beth Moore studies and we are getting ready to go through Loving Well as a 4 week study. I am wondering if anyone has went through Loving Well in this format and if so you could provide any tips, suggests, or other advice? Thank you in advance and God Bless.

Welcome Sarabennett!
I haven't gone through this new study, but I'm sure it would work out fine as a 4 week study. Jennifer P.s. Feel free to post any time ! |

We are about to begin "Loving Well" as an 8 week study - we elect to watch a video one week and have discussion groups the next. The leader guide has great tips. Some of the things I am going to use from the leader guide is 1.) We are going to set aside a time of worship each week, 2.) We are going to play the opening game in the video segments at each discussion session, 3.) I have watched the videos and prepared listening guides for our girls to follow along with during video sessions, and 4.) We are going to close it out with a Saturday morning brunch celebration! Good luck and let me know how it is going! Blessings, Michelle

Michelle,
Thanks so much. We plan on meeting for 4 weeks watching the video first then discuss what we have just watched, listening guides are a wonderful idea and would really help keep the group on task as we discuss. I couldn't help wondering if you would be willing to share those? Will your group be using the journals too? We plan to use them some but they will be more for personal use in the group. Thanks again. God Bless Sara |

I'm glad to hear that you are doing worship first. I'm just learning MORE on how critical worship really is - and more critical corporate, UNIFIED worship.... Beth's studies are wonderful, but hard to have the video and discussion time in a reasonable length of time.... she just hits so many good things that it's hard to control or shorten the discussion time, isn't it! |

I think I've mentioned this elsewhere, too, but the last church in which I did one of Beth's studies used an entire year to do a study. They had a 2 hour session. Depending on whether or not there was a video that week, the exact schedule varied, but it basically broke down into 20-30 minutes worship, 15-30 minutes prayer, and the rest dedicated to the video or discussion of the homework [days 1-3 the 1st week, days 4-5 the 2nd , then the video the 3rd week]. I realize it's hard to get people to commit to a year [Sept-May] study, but a study like Daniel might make it easy for people to choose 1/2 year periods of the study. |

Anyone have any feedback on this 'study' yet?

We are half way through the study in the 4 week format and it is going very well. I too have watch the videos and written up listening guides as suggested in an earlier post. These have been very helpful for the group members and valuable for discussion time also. The dvds have so many extras on them...humor, games, etc that it is a refreshing light hearted study that hits as in the thick of our loving relationships. I can't wait to do this as a retreat sometime!

Thanks for the feedback.
I told my Mom's church group to order me a journal and will start May 8. I appreciate hearing back on this! |

Sara or anyone: Are we supposed to watch Video 1 before attempting the journal if we are doing the journal?
Thanks for any help. |

I would say yes. You could anwser the questions with out watching the video but it would mean more with the insight from the video.

In Session 3, Beth gave four points........
I missed number one and three. I got two and four. Does anyone have these in their notes? I do wish they were selling the audio to this but they are not..........sigh sigh. (Unless you want to buy a leaders kit). |

I will check my notes Emma... I have yet to get my dvds back from the churh or I would just pop it in and tell you.
As for feedback... the worship experience made the sessions so much more meaningful. I used some of the suggestions in the leader guide and then added songs which really spoke to me about love and grace. Some of the songs were "When Love Takes You In" by Steven Curtis Chapman "My Beloved" by Kari Jobe (www.karijobe.com) "The More I seek You" by Gateway Worship www.gatewaypeople.com "No Eye Has Seen" by Paul Baloche "Your Grace Still Amazes Me" by Philips Craig and Dean I also prepared sample cds so the women could get to know the songs before the worship sessions. Also, the song "Amazed" referenced in the Leader's Guide is sung by Ross Parsley and there is a version by the Desparation Band. Also, another song that would be terrific is "Complete" which as I know it is by the parachute band. Loving Well seemed to be a review for me, I had been so profoundly changed by the introduction of God's love into my life a few years ago. I found what it did was not only illuminate where I needed to work at better loving others but also where I needed to expect better from others. It required me to examine every relationship in my life and change what my motivation was for keeping that relationship. Blessings, Michelle |

Thanks Michelle. The night we watched that video my Mom ended up in the ER, so I missed most of it.
Praise God, she is doing much better now. She was having severe depression which was showing up in physical symptoms. At 82, she is a very active lady and now she is active again. This week we start A Woman's Heart, at her church. I'll just have to pull Loving Well out now and then to remind myself of the lessons we learned. |

Emma,
The points were: 1. Let's start loving because we are already loved, not so we will be loved. (Gen 29:31, 1 John 4:19) 2. Let's learn to love with God's Love. (Romans 5:5, Eph 3) 3. Learn to love with insight. (Php 1:9-10) We are never called to love blindly - we are called to a love that knows. 4. God is going to call us to see hard love as an offering on His altar. (1 John 4:10, Eph 5:1) I began a Woman's Heart a few weeks ago. I have so longed to do this study since I learned it was being re-released. Plus having done several of her studies that linger in the OT, it is quite a journey. So far, Exodus 14:14 is the most meaningful to me. I am going through it on my own, and my cousin is as well. So we are being accountable to one another. Blessings. Michelle |
