We have just moved into close proximity to a large Marine base and the need is great for a ministry to the military. So many of the Marines are deployed leaving spouses with small children and most have no support system. Therefore, we are trying to get something started in our church.

We have one event planned in October to "get our foot in the door" so to speak. We are taking a SAturday afternoon and babysitting for the military. We plan to make some special gift bags for the Moms and use this as a way of establishing contact with some of the families in our community.

We also hope to begin a Bible study for the wife and possibly one for both of the spouses in the future.

Just wondering if anyone had any experience working with military. What worked? How did you get the word out?
The need is so great and the task seems overwhelming. Just pray for guidance as we start this ministry.And please offer any suggestions that you may have.

I haven't had any experience in this area, but I will keep your ministry in prayer, as I can just imagine how "needed" it must be for those families...
