Several activities refer to pupils using pencils and writing or drawing during the Bible Study Campfire while seated in a semicircle -- I am concerned that this will be difficult especially for Grades 1-3.

You might try using crayons. This would be much safer. I have done grade 1-3 for several years. And the idea of even a small class of 15-20 with pencils would be a bit scary. If you have hard floors, they can place the paper on the floor.
