Could you please send me the teacher appreciation ideas that the neat lady in Louisiana shared with you. I am a VBS director in Alabama and I would greatly appreciate your ideas. Thanks and God Bless. Susanne Sanders suezq@troycable.net

If you'll send me your email address, I have some suggestions that a neat lady in Louisiana developed for me to share with people. I can send it as an attachment. It's too big to include here.

Be sure also to check out the teacher appreciation ideas in the new VBS Administrative Guide. The guide is in the Sampler and Super Sampler. Each day gives two theme-related ideas on ways to show appreciation to your teachers and VBS workers.

I am probably the person in Louisiana that you are looking for. I have made a booklet with over 200 VBS Teacher/Appreciation ideas and would not mind sharing with you.

Usually before a couple weeks before VBS we just have a teacher's meeting, but this year we are going to have a "Staff Dinner". We're going to have a typical American meal with hot dogs and fixins'...Also, I'm going to draw names of the teachers to give away some decorations that I have ordered. Oh, and we're gonna cover the stuff we normally would in the meeting too...which would be the main purpose, and showing the staff (not just the teachers) that we appreciate them! In addition to that I plan on giving a small gift, most likely something personalized at the end of VBS to the staff also.

What about a slip of paper with a chocolate mint attached that says, "you're a mint". Another one is a life saver saying "you're a life saver"; or a chocolate hug or kiss that says "hugs to you"/"a kiss for you for your helpfulness". Or a Million Dollar bar (candy bar) saying "you're worth a million". Smile

Hello Everyone,
Teacher Appreciation is very important. Thanks to Ms. Lou Midgett (the lady from LA) I have my Teacher Appreciation gifts ready this year. I looked through her booklet and here is what I have planned to do (actually have them all packed and ready to go):

I will print up a booklet that the outside will look like a suitcase and inside will be an acrostic for VOLUNTEERS that is in the booklet and a few other saying about children and volunteers.
At our frist big meeting or if they join us later they will get a bag with two 100 Grand bars inside with "Thanks for joining us for a "GRAND" Adventure-filled getaway across the USA, as we discover how the daily choices we make affect our journey, when we choose God as our guide.
Monday- Bath salts with a note attached saying "Working in VBS can be a strain on our body and our brain-so when you feel stressed, a hot bath is best. It truly will help keep you sane!
Tuesday- Babe Ruth bars with a note attached saying "You're a real slugger! Keep on batting for our children in VBS.
Wednesday-Pack of Sunflower Seeds with an address label stuck on top saying "Thanks for helping plant the seeds of a child's faith. Thanks for all you do."
Thursday-A pack of animal crackers with a note attached saying "This place would be a "ZOO" without our Terrific volunteers!"
Friday-Five pieces of strawberry candy in a bag with a note saying "Thanks! We are "Berry" glad you are a part of our VBS Team this year.

When all was said and done the average price for each teacher was $1.20 for all of this, and that's not much for all the work they put into the week.

Thanks again to Ms Lou, without her booklet I would still be working on this part. If anyone has any questions please feel free to email me @ mclucy_1@yahoo.com. Please put Teacher Appreciation in the subject line.
