If you'll send me your email address, I have some suggestions that a neat lady in Louisiana developed for me to share with people. I can send it as an attachment. It's too big to include here.

I found a few ideas on another forum I thought I would share what one of them did. This is not my idea, just passing it on.....

Last year I gave my teachers and helpers a little gift each night. One night I made up some "blessing" mix consisting of bugles, round pretzels (not sticks), dried fruits, M&M's, nuts & seeds, hershey kisses. I gave each a little bag of this with a note telling about each ingredient: bugles to remind us to proclaim God's word to our kids; pretzels to remind us to fold our arms in prayer for each precious soul within our care; dried fruits to remind us that each opportunity to witness is a gift; M&M's to remind us to cherish the many memories of the week, nuts and seeds to remind us to plant the seeds of knowledge; and the kisses to remind us of God's love for us and our love for each other.

Another night I gave each a package of lifesavers and a note saying that they were lifesavers and thanking them for their hard work. One night a chocolate coated spoon and pack of cocoa with note telling them that they had made it to the middle of the week so enjoy this sweet treat (given on Wed). Then I gave a pack of gum on Fri. saying they deserved a carefree weekend. I gave a "rose" made out of kisses and attached a poem: This sweet rose I give to you; With special thanks for all you do...For helping to make this week a success; Thanks fo much for being a part of VBS!!
On the final Sun. night, I gave each of them a personal thank you note from me.

Each night I put the treat into a basket and carried it and gave them out.

This year I am toying with the idea of having a small social for them....just one time thing before VBS starts just to thank them for working in VBS.

In Hawaii they make leis from candy rolls/Lifesavers, and wrapped candy. They use net mesh material or tulle and wrap each piece, then knot the fabric between each piece of candy. You could also use yarn and a yarn needle and sew each piece together.

Hi-I have a suggestion for us. Lets compile our list by a "give one-get one". When you see this post, jot down for future use the suggestions you like, and then add one or more for others to enjoy!
I'll start by saying I have given a gift bag with Herseys Hugs and Herseys Kisses, Herseys Special Dark Chocolate, Strawberry Candies, and Exra Gum- with a card that reads: Hugs and Kisses to a Berry Special Person. Thanks for going the EXTRA mile in VBS.

I like to have a drawing at the end of the week for "door prizes." I leave 2 or 3 baskets filled with goodys that go along with the VBS theme (this year beach towels, lotion, flip flops, chapstick, etc)where all adults/helpers/workers can see them. They write their name on a piece of paper each night they help during VBS and we have a drawing the last night. They love it. I also give them a copy of daily devotions come in one of the VBS CD's (I think) tied with a ribbon and maybe an ink pen or something like that.

I am planning to frame the Lord's Prayer in Hawaiian for appreciation this year.
If you are interested you can find a copy at
http://www.alohafriendsluau.com/Hawaii_wedding_prayer.html

This site is awesome! There are hawaiian games and popular words and phrases in hawaiian. Lots of ideas for hawaiian theme parties.

I led an Association Clinic and I gave my attendees these ideas that reinforced the Bible Truth for each day. I also plan to give a bag to my boys and girls each day in VBS. You can change the wording to apply to the boys and girls. We would be in a “CRUNCH” if you were not helping teaching the Wave Riders that “God is Real”. (Crunch Candy Bar) Thank you for planting the “SEEDS” in the hearts of the Wave Riders that “The Bible is God’s Word.” (Pack of seeds) It is a “JOY” having you teach the Wave Riders that “Jesus is the Only Way.” (Almond Joy Candy Bar) You were “MINT” to teach the Wave Riders that “My Actions Show What I Believe.” (Peppermints or Peppermint Patty) Thank you for taking the “EXTRA” time to teach Wave Riders that “Jesus is God’s Son.” Extra gum) You will receive a heavenly “PAYDAY” when you teach the Wave Riders to “Know the Truth, Speak the Truth, and Live the Truth.”
