For the last two years our church has ordered the New Testaments for distribution at VBS.
This year we ordered the new version, which I like. However, I have one suggestion. Could all of the information at the front about versions be moved somewhere else? When you are giving Bibles to non-churched children or even adults, they very likely will start reading at the front of it. The first chapter Matthew can be enough to bog someone down without them getting lost in version info--which is difficult enough for a churched adult to follow.
Our teachers advised the kids to start reading at Matthew or John but how many will remember that?
Please consider this next year.
Also, could you consider making color sheets for the preschoolers or even to supplement the older children's lessons? You could even place them with the downloads on the internet for the teacher's to copy.
Thank you--you've done a great job this year.
God bless, Mary

I would like to see psalms and/or proverbs included in the bibles. I like for the kids to use the VBS bibles in class but often must find additional bibles since references in psalms have been used on many occasions in the VBS materials.

We always offer Bibles for sale at VBS. We order some paper backs and some hardbacks. Based on the number we buy, we are able to sell the hardcover for $5.00 and the paperback for $3.00. The boys always like the camo cover. We sell out of bibles every year. This year we had 72 Bibles and sold out on the first day. Our total number of children enrolled in VBS was 1,151. Next year we'll order even more Bibles.

I have some suggitions for bibles. we always order the new testaments to give to the unchurched kids during VBS. This year half of the lessions are in the old testament. I would love to see a complete bible offered with the theme cover.I also know that this could be done farely cheap. We sent back over bible we order this year because we needed the complete bible. For the ones interested. My co-directorand I called around and found at our local Dollar Tree Complete paper backed bibles for a dollar a piece and with the church's tax expemt Number there was no tax. They also told us that they could order all we needed any time. The only draw back is that the bibles are KJV which can be hard to read for kids sometimes. VBS is the largest reach out at our church during the year.We have alot of hispanic kids that come but go the rest of the time to a cathlic church.we as christains are to spread God's word what better way than to give it away Completely away.If God's wanted us to spread just the new testament than he would have given us just the New testament but he gave us both.so we should give away both the old and New testaments. Just a thought. Wink

I have good news for those of you who want the VBS Bibles to include Psalms and Proverbs. The 2007 VBS Bibles will have that feature!

I'm glad that the 2007 Bibles will have Psalms and Proverbs, but I agree that we really need the WHOLE Bible. It would be different if there were no Bible stories in the Old Testament, but it's not fair to have half of the kids able to read the New Testament and half not.

We ordered the Arctic Edge Bibles this year, but 2 yrs ago we were able to order the complete Bible in the NIRV (New Internatinal Readers Version) for $5 each. We will use the AE Bibles for the unchurched and if the parents want the full version we can supply that.
