I am interested to discover how churches train their workers to share Christ with children during VBS, and also what methods are used to share Christ with kids. Any materials or ideas would be a great help to me and others. I will try to post what I use with our church in the near future. Post what your church uses or at least a link to where others can find this material.

I use Sharing God's Special Plan With Children. It is written by the North American Mission Board. I found this material about 3-4 years ago and I use it every year to train new VBS workers and I also use it to train Salvation Counselors. It is DVD driven and is easy to teach. It comes with a few tracts that are used in sharing the gospel. We have ordered additional tracts each year. Once the VBS workers/counselors are trained, they can be used in other areas, such as our Worship Services to specifically counsel children.

You can order all the supplies through LifeWay. It is the best training program I have ever used.

I also ask people other than VBS workers to serve as Salvation Counselors. They are trained and they only need to be there for the one day specifically to counsel the children who come forward to make decisions. This has worked wonderfully for us. This assures that every child who comes forward is counselled individually.
