My husband, the pastor, always gives a Gospel presentation each year unique to the VBS theme. I years past he's been a crocodile hunter, sumo wrestler, and a biker. This year he used information from the Iditarod. He downloaded a current map of the Iditarod race across Alaska to use in his presentation. It was only then that we realized several of the points on the race route could be easily linked with the points of the "wordless book" presentation. For example: One point is called "Cripple" which we linked with sin, next is "Ruby" linked with Christ's blood, then "White Mountain", "Safety", and ending with "Nome" which is also known as The City of Gold (because of a gold rush years ago). We put together a power point presentation using the actual map and slides of each point. If anyone would like the PP file you may e-mail me at scshouse@hotmail.com or look it up yourself with a search for "Iditarod". Our kids really made the connection and that's what it's all about!
