Hello, I am leading a mission team to Honduras. We will doing the Arctic Edge VBS each night with a neiborhood there. Any ideas on how to convey the arctic to people who have never seen snow or cold. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
I'd just like to say "Good luck!" with that! I had a teacher friend who moved to the states from Syria years ago -- she was facinated by the snow we had in Pennsylvania. She had thought that those pictures she had seen (as well as the colorful fall tree pictures) were artsit renditions, not reality!
I usually get a lot of great photos for my classroom from old calendars. They ALWAYS put winter scenes in Jan/Feb/Dec. -- like the free ones you get at funeral homes. Maybe that could help your people visualize what winter is like?? You could also take calendar pictures or posters of Arctic animals -- but it's a bad time of year to buy calendars. (OH! NO PENGUINS IN THE ARCTIC!) If you can't find any pictures, I'd be glad to donate some of mine (if I can find them, as I'm semi-retired and they're in my garage).
