My husband and I have started something new at VBS this year that we learned from a church we attended while he was in Bible college. For the VBS offering we are doing a penny parade...the boys against the girls!! I bought $50.00 of rolled pennies for the "Penny Bank" to get us started. When the kids come with their offering, they can "buy" rolls of pennies. In the opening of VBS each night, we have the kids come up by class and put their pennies into the boy bucket or girl bucket that hang from a scale that we made. We cheer them on and let the scale fall to what ever side is the heaviest...the kids love this! Our first night we raised $27.27, 2nd night $65.00, 3rd night $80.00, and last night we raised $121.00!!! We still have 2 more nights to go! Every night I remind the children why we are doing this and we talk about the missions that we are supporting with this love offereing.
