Every Tongue, Tribe and Nation.

While, Lifeway's yearly VBS materials are great and our church always looks forward to them every year, I can't say the same about the choice of locations.

In recent years we have seen mostly American or Caucasian-themed VBS. The only exception being Japan for the Rickshaw Rally - but hey, Japan is a well-known nation. And 2009 is Australia?

I sincerely hope this doesn't reflect how insular North Americans are and how they view the 'rest of the world'.

Let's reflect how the gospel is for every tongue, tribe and nation. Let's see some of these regions chosen: Indochina, Africa, Middle-East, Central Asia and the other America (i.e. South America).

Plenty of variations if you just think about Cambodia, India, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Israel and Peru.

I agree as well. I love the idea of visiting the Holy Land. As well, with our denomination, we have Missionettes and Royal Ranger. As a former Missionettes "STARS" leader, having 36 different topics of study for over a 3 year "club" environment, a half dozen or so of the subjects we study are missions based where we "visit" other parts of the world and learn their culture from their food, language, clothing current and historical, and of course their religious practices. The idea of traveling the world each summer for a week to a different continent would be a true VACATION Bible School. The area broken down into,(Please forgive me I am taking from memory) Europe, Asia, South American and the Caribbean and there may have been a few more but I do recall some comments from people years back after London, Japan or China - can't remember (Rickshaw Rally)etc. that many felt that the users are American and it would be great to see some of the US of A as we did for a few years with the road trip theme and the Alaska theme. The idea of learning more of the middle east I think would also be a great tool for our kids to learn of the cultures that we as adults have been thrust into learning do to the current and recent past world events.
