I am concerned that preschool materials sent home do not relay the Bible story to parents. The magnets are a wonderful idea. I really like the postcards too BUT I feel that our main purpose in VBS is to reach those that do not attend church regularly. If preschoolers do not go home with a summery of the Bible story for parents, I am afraid parents will think all we are doing is teaching about a journey across the US not about Jesus!

You could do a newsletter. Tell the nightly theme/location along with the bible story that is being taught for that night. Along with that information you could add any announcements or information you might like to pass on to the parents, such as what your offering will go for...etc.

Are you talking about the 3s-Pre-K postcards? While they don't contain a synopsis of the Bible story, they do conatin each day's scripture. Maybe you could encourage parents to look up the scripture and read the story again with their children, then the children can tell the parents what they learned about that lesson.

[QUOTE]In order to get more VBS participation, we want to contact residents in our immediate community. The ecards would be great but they do not allow you to send to multiple addressees. This would be a great way to get participation but currently it is too akward. Any solutions. Confused

JayeBee

I haven't sent any of the ecards yet, but it says you can send to multiple names and email addresses by separating each of them with a comma. So it appears you can send to more than one individual at a time. Hope this helps.

Hey JayeBee - Thanks for letting me know this isn't working properly. We're working on it and I'll make a post when it is fixed. Thanks!

SmileThanks, it only allows 2 or 3 addressees with the comma delimiter. Also, is there a reason, upon receipt of the ecard, that the link is not displayed rather than having to cut and paste it in the URL. Some folks are not computer savvy and we want to make sure it either tells them to do that or they can just click on the link. Your help is greatly appreciated.

JayeBee - Regarding the url coming through as a link, I think that is a setting in your email client. Is your email set up to be able to receive html emails? I have tested this through three different email accounts (all outside of LifeWay), and on all three of them it came through as a clickable link. If you are still concerned about your recipients not knowing how to copy and paste the url, could you add a brief instruction at the end of your message in the postcard?

SmileThanks for researching. I'll check some further recipients. Not enough allowable characters on eMail for short instructions. Are multiple mailings working now - I'll check.
Thanks for all you did.

JayeBee - I haven't heard back from the programmers yet, so I doubt that it is fixed yet. Hopefully it will be soon. I'll let you know as soon as I hear something! Smile
