Ideas off the top of my head late at night: "catch the wave..." with 3-D surfers/surfboards jutting out (but careful so they don't bump passerbys --or-- a cool sea turtle with words including "dude" (like in Finding Nemo; "Dude, don't miss VBS!") --or-- that nice woven background (on Lifeway's website, Outrigger Island Downloadables poster template) with 3-D bright pink tissue-paper flowers and some funky-beach font including the VBS dates, times, etc. --or-- something to do with flip-flops (they have them at the Dollar Spot at Target right now) or ???

I'm sure the decorating DVD and book would give you ideas, clip art, etc.

For the boarder I had an idea for our bulltin board. I have ordered loose Hibicus flowers and I am using them for the boarders around it. I have not tried it yet so.

I used "water" paper for my background on the board that I found in the Discount School Supplies catalog. I then used the VBS boarder. I found some plastic, 3-d sea creatures at a party store and stapled them to the board at various heights. I put the large VBS logo at the top and some of the smaller pieces from the bulletin board set at the around the board. I then took some paper streamers that were about 12 inches long, twisted them a few times and stapled them to the board to look like coral. the brighter the colors the better. The preschoolers love the board!
