I was thinking about those jewels of homeschooling - you know - those moments you wouldn't trade for the world. Maybe it's the first word your child read, or something funny they did. Let's share them here to bring a little light to the day.
We've had very mild winters here in the midwest the past few years. Last year, my then 7-year-old smeared white glue all over the front window because he wanted to look out at "snow"! Thank goodness it was washable!
How about you?
Love,
Christine

Home schooling has been such a blessing from God. I enjoy the enteraction between my children that has developed because they are together all the time. Over the last few weeks I have begun to teach my youngest his ABC's. He and the sibling next in age work with me in the morning on this by learning a verse with each letter. When we got to the letter D and the verse was "Do all things without complaining or disputing". This was a great lesson for all because at dinner that evening one of the kids began to complain about something and the four year old quoted the verse and solved all our discord for the evening. I's funny how the younest can lead so well with truth!!! I think that it was his precious little voice saying the word disputing that started everyone to laugh

My 4th grader has entered the diagramming sentence phase of language. One morning we were talking about all the things to diagram aside from subject nouns and predicate verbs she was doing. I told her about adjective, adverbs, prepositions, and direct objects. I'd forgotten about the conversation until leaving piano lessons, she asked me exactly WHAT were propositions and propositional phrases Eek. After she explained it was regarding what we'd talked about earlier, I explained that the term was PREPOSITIONS and such.

Hi Nancy,
Welcome to the board! Please take a moment to introduce yourself and tell us about you.
What a cute story! I love the way they mess up words sometimes. My son, who was trying to say the word consultant, told his daddy that the neighbor daddy worked an as insultant! Ha! I know a few people who would be good for that job!
Welcome,
Christine

My 5yo brought a picture to me of a tall, large, angry-looking person with long fingernails holding hands with a short person holding a sword.

Dismayed, I thought to myself,
"Is THIS how she sees me??"
I gulped, swallowed and asked,
"Honey, is this Mommy and Joshua?"
"No Mommy! It's Grendel and Beowulf!"

my 6 yo son gets sweet and sappy every so often ~ he's a thinker. He comes up and hugs me and says "Mommy I love you and I never want to loose you!"

He also talks about wanting to marry his sisters because he doesn't want to miss them when he grows up! Well at least I can be sure big brother will be a good protector of his sisters when they are young ladies Big Grin

He tells his brother I don't remember you praying to Jesus so you can go to heaven and be with us.

My sweet soon to be two yo. dd is really blossoming this past month she is talking in sentences conversationally I can't think of any one thing she says that's cute EVERYTHING is I love this stage!

My 5 yo ds likes to go around and sing little thoughts I always thought this was cute.
