Time For Learning is a good one for kids with special needs. (though mine don't use it and they both have special needs) homeschoolreviews.com is another great site.

I'd go with where he's at as far as his own skills in each subject and not worry about him being all in a certain "grade." My oldest is going into 4th grade but will be using 3rd grade spelling. Spelling is not her strongest point. The important thing is that they are learning.

ITA about the public schools not meeting the needs of kids like this. My oldest has Asperger's and believe me, the schools are not equipped to deal with her and don't even want to. Just take the extra government money for having another kid diagnosed with something and use it for themselves.. Yet they will make claims that they can and are helping the child.

Some good sites for homeschool curriculum:

www.rainbowresource.com

www.timberdoodle.com

www.christianbook.com (this has more than homeschool curriculum, btw)

Hope this helps!

thanks, my son has biplor/adhd and torrettes... the school is exactly the way you discribe, very sad! not to mention fustrating when they refuse to even attempt to understand your child.they always take the easy way for them, and it is never about the child . the very reason leading my husband and i to home school after 11years of constant battle, all the while our son was not retaining a thing. thanks mitchell06@comcast.net

www.LearningAbledKids.com has an associated Yahoo support group for parents homeschooling children with disabilities like Aspergers, Dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, etc. We try to keep things positive, supportive, and uplifting. LOTS of parents are homeschooling to try to meet special needs and it's great to have support from parents on the same road. Best Wishes to you!
