Very small church of around 40 regular attendees. We have plenty of children (from surrounding neighborhood) who will come to VBS.
We have NO committed teachers as of yet.
I'm debating on wether or not to teach. I've never done it. I didn't take any prep classes, both of my children will be in either of the 2 classes that I may teach. We need prayer, big time! Our director is stressed to the max.
I know everything will work out, but it's getting down to the wire and we are in desperate need of prayer!!!

I'll be praying for your VBS. If you want my best advice on getting teachers to committ, ask them one on one! I don't know how you've been doing it, but I do know this, sign-up sheets and blanket announcements in worship service are not nearly as effective in getting quality workers to committ as asking people one on one. In a church of 40 it is not too difficult to personally get to everyone individually. Also, don't ask in general "Would you like to work in VBS?" Pray and seek where God would place that specific person and ask them "Would you work in the 2nd-3rd grade class in VBS?" (or wherever you need them). I've found that one reason a lot of children's ministries lack volunteers is that people make pleas in service, put up sign-up lists, and post flyers, but never directly seek and ask the people God is calling to the task. I know many people who won't committ simply because no one has ever asked them so they truly believe they are not welcome in that area of ministry.

Dear Jesus,
I pray for this church and for their VBS director. Please give them the names in their prayer time of those who you have chosen to work and give them the courage to ask, even if others try to discourage them, to ask one on one those people. I pray that You will be glorified in everything that happens at this VBS and that You will show this church how important children and families are to you! Use their VBS to reach children and parents for you and to grow this church in such a way that You recieve all the glory! In Christ's Name, Amen.
