Dear Friends in Christ, Will you please pray for my niece. She is only 20 years old and is addicted to heroin. She has previous medical problems and this is just too much for her body. My sister needs prayer too. It is so painful for her to watch her daughter. And yesterday my sister found out she has a lump on her breast. She has had breast cancer before. please pray this is NOT it again. I thank you God for hearing our prayers. AMEN. -Clara

Update on my family. My sister Brenda needs prayers that when they do the surgery to remove the lump that it is just a gland filled with junk and not cancer. She told me last night that the surgery is scheduled for October 31st. Please pray for her peace of mind. Also, she said that Kate shot up again yesterday. This is killing Brenda. Kate has CF and it hurts to watch her destroy herself. My sister is a strong believer and her prayer is that Kate will find GOd through all of this. Please pray! I know GOd hears our prayers. For Callie, for Kate, for Bren. Nothing is too small. He is constant. Thanks for praying, Love, Clara

Clara, I am praying for you and for your family -- that He will give you strength and stamina; that He will keep reminding Kate that she is being held tight in His arms, and how very very much He loves her; that Brenda's surgery and the time leading up to it will be marked by an abundance of His peace.

Standing in prayer with you and the others here that are praying for you, your sister, your niece and Callie.

You said Kate has CF (cystic fibrosis?) I am a breast cancer survivor also; of over 17 years. I know that I know... that the Lord touched me and healed me; although I can't imagine why He did. Regardless I praise Him and thank Him for what He has done in that area of my life. I am so glad to hear your sister is a strong believer.

Praying that God will use all that is going on for good and to draw your niece to Him through all that is going on in her life and her mom's. I have many relatives that struggle with addictions and I know that is so hard to deal with and watch. I find that the most help I can give is to simply pray God's will for their lives. The more sad and awful things I see that addictions do and the consequences of them, the more I know only God can fill the desperate need so many are seeking in their addictions. Praise God that He indeed does hear our prayers and that our prayers are 'no little things'.

Dear Deb - Thank you for your prayers. Right, Katelin has CF which is cystic fibrosis. I keep thinking that shooting heroin along with the CF..the only thing that could be keeping her alive is God. Brenda had breast cancer and cervical cancer...went through chemo and is a survivor..This recent lump...she just keeps praying - like you said - that God will use it to somehow draw Kate to Him.. Let us keep praying with her..And I am praying that I will know how to help. Love, Clara

My sister called last night and said that Katelin called her and said she WANTS to quit ....but she can't ....Katelin has been in rehab center twice now but left after 1st week. This time she didn't check into a rehab, but she has started going to meetings. Said she is going to do the 90 meetings in 90 days. I am praying for her to call out to Jesus. My sister, Brenda, still has the surgery to remove the lump on Oct. 31. Please keep praying. I know God hears us. In my classroom where I teach...I was setting things up for the day..and I'd been saying Katelin's name ...just lifting her up to God for His love for His protection. I felt like someone was in the room. Like when a student will come back in the room to say something but is just there watching me. I turned and ...hard to describe this and wondering if I will sound crazy but because it happened I don't care....it felt like two people were sitting there watching me. It felt like Jesus and His Father, our LORD!! And then I felt warm all over and around me. And I said thank you God for being here with me. THank you for your Holy Spirit. Thank you for hearing our prayers. Please keep praying and I won't forget to let you know how God is working.

Clara, isn't it wonderful to have such a clear reminder that He loves you and He hears you?!?

When I got off work there was an urgent voice mail left by my sister: Katelin had come over...a mess... Her arms a mess. She had shot up again... Looking like death, she'd lost so much weight, eyes all dark..and she said she couldnt do it by herself. (Praise GOD, Im thinking) And she wants to know how to get a sponsor. (My sister has been in AA, sober for 25 years--in AA you get a fellow alcoholic to sponsor you ...kind of like a spiritual partner/accountability partner) And so Brenda, my sister, leaves this message to me thanking me for praying and said she read this morning in James to draw close to God and he will draw close to you. And she said that Katelin, though..... doesn't think GOd cares about her and that Katelin is so mad at God. Why CF, why cancer, why her brother's diabetes, why did her dad leave her....and Bren says that Katelin doesn't know how to draw close and she said will I stand in the gap with her...for Katelin. So I ask you, will you stand with me? I am believing God for a miracle for Katelin and for Bren. And I don't know what that will be but I know God can do what He says He can do. Thanks for listening and thanks for praying with me. See, Katelin has Cystic fibrosis ...she can't keep doing this. CF's life expectancy...if they do things right is about 35 now...she can't shoot up and live. I'm thinking God is all that can be keeping her alive. Will you pray with me?
