Hello Dear Cyber-Sisters!!!!

Just to remind us all:

Sometimes we share a little too much information when requesting prayer. We all need to be sensitive to this tendency.
In our desire to solicit the prayers of others, it is easy to fall into the desire to add details in order to catch the attention of others.
When we do this, we have fallen away from asking for prayer and fallen into gossiping.

So how do we avoid this?

1. Give basic information only.
2. Avoid using names.
3. Speak in general terms, not specifics.
4. Ask myself, "would I want the person I am requesting prayer for, to read this post?"

5. A personal guideline could be:
if I type over 4 or 5 lines in a single request, I have given too much information.

One of my favorite Sunday School teachers use to say, "If you haven't personally spent 20 minutes praying about your request first, it's not a prayer request, it's gossip." I tell my Bible study groups this everytime we begin a new study. It calls me to a greater accountablity before The Lord.

Praying Together!

Thanks, Hiacent. I agree, we need to keep that in mind to be sure. I appreciate the job all of the moderators have to do in keeping the forums within Godly boundaries for the glory of the Lord and for the nourishment of all the forum members. You are prayed for and appreciated!

Yes, Hiahcent, thanks for the call to accountability. Sometimes our good intentions get away from us.

Yahudah,
I like what you said about our good intentions getting away from us.
That's something I've been thinking a lot about. We need "God" intentions instead of good intentions. God intentions are when we are doing as God would have us do. I believe we get seriously sidetracked when we live by good intentions... good intentions just aren't good enough!

God has reallly been teaching me about holiness. I started when spiritual warfare began at our church last fall. It led me on a path of study that has awakened in me a passion for all things holy... for living a holy life.

A friend and I worked together on a study of holiness, what God's part is and what our part is. It was truly an incredible journey.

Whether we are posting a prayer request, or whatever, we are called to be holy
