Hi Ladies,
Let us surround the Gulf Coast with our prayers, as Ike comes nearer to it. However, right now, it appears to be heading for Galveston, TX, which is about an hour from Houston, where our dear Miss Beth lives and teaches. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I was living in Houston during Tropical Storm Allison in 2001, and I've never seen anything more frightening than that. And, my car was one of the 95,000 vehicles that got flooded out, too. Here are some websites about TP Allison. One of them states that its name was the only TP that the National Weather Service chose to retire without ever becoming a hurricane. And, shortly before my car stopped working, I was driving on an upper level highway, and I literally saw a semi truck trying to drive through an underpass street, and it was turning over on its side [And, that road looked like a river, mind you] !!! Talking about terrifying!!! http://www.awra.org/state/tx/acrobat/ivey.pdf#search='Tropical Storm Allison' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropical_Storm_Allison ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And, for those of you dear ones who may be in the path of the hurricane, please evacuate as soon as possible if you are asked to do so! We care about Y'all too much to lose you to a silly hurricane. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So, let's all pray for those in the path of Ike, no matter where it lands, shall we, ladies??? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In Christ's Love, Jennifer This message has been edited. Hi Ladies,
Oh man, what a true disaster this sounds like. I talked to my friend, Jeanette, who lives in Magnolia, Tx. this evening. She is my best friend from the Houston area, as she was my teacher's aide for a couple of years while I was teaching down there. And, she is the same lady who the Lord allowed me to lead to Himself as her personal Lord and Savior on 6-6-06... So, she is a sister in Christ, too, praise God !!! http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Magnolia&state=TX&cou....750603&geocode=CITY She told me that they went up to The Woodlands, TX during the storm Friday night into Saturday where her son lives. http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Magnolia&1s=TX&1y=US&1l...g=-95.489166&2v=CITY She told me that she woke up during the worst of the storm and looked outside, and she could tell that if she step out the door, she would have been blown away, and she is not a lightweight lady, but she sure is sweet... But, then they went back to her mobile home after that, as his house is too small, as her un-married daughter [who is a bit younger than me], and her 2 grandchildren have been living with her since they were born. And, the girl, Taylor, is 9 or 10 now, and the boy, Blaine, is 7. She said that trees are down all over the place, and, they have NO electricity and NO water !!! But, I guess Wal-mart, where her daughter is an accountant, is open, but that is only because it is near the hospital, and the store manager slept there for 2 nights packing dry ice into all of the cold food bins ... But, they run out of ice and water so fast since nobody has any at home, not even for the toilets! But, thankfully, her husband was able to get about 5 gallons of water off of the eaves on top of the trailer that is clean, so that is what they are using until it runs out... Oh my! And, remember, her town is way to the NW of Houston !!! BUT, she is praising God that they are alive and that no trees fell on their home or cars, as a neighbor 3 doors down from them lost their car due to a tree falling on it. And, that the streets there are not flooded, but there are dangerous snakes all over outside... EEKs!!! And,the radio stated that schools were still closed until further notice... But, they that the awnings above all of the walkways at the school where the grandkids go were blown far away... But, these were the people who were told not to evacuate until all of Galveston and eastern Houston had the chance to do so... I guess even the News people and mayors didn't know what to expect from Hurricane Ike... And, mind you, it is still hot in that area, too. And, very humid, and the young kids in particular have never had to learn how to deal with not having air conditioning, and video games, etc.... So, they are driving the adults crazy... But, I'm sure you have heard this too, they may not have electricity for at least another 2-3 Weeks !!! ARG !!! Please pray that they will at least be able to have running water soon !!! I found her the Houston Red Cross’ phone number that I will give her over the phone tomorrow, assuming her phone still works then. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please continue to pray for all of the people who have been affected in any way, shape or form by Hurricane Ike... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Love in Christ Jesus, Jennifer |

A lady in a Christian group I assist with on MSN apparently has lost most of her home.
I havent been able to locate a few other friends in Houston by Email. I see the LP blog has a post up from Beth. I'm sure more and more will be checking in as they can, but it sure looks bad down there. |

My friend who lives to the far NW of Houston is still without water and electricity, and were told that they "may" have it restored by Thursday of this week. But, anyone who has ever lived in the south knows that it is hot down there, even now... Please pray for all of them in this situation.
Thank you! |

Yep, friends in Houston wrote and said Thursday was the promised day for power to be restored.
Please pray for a lady who is in several of my web groups (the one I mentioned before). Her name is Cora, she lost her whole house. |
