We are debating whether to take a "go-away" vacation this year and are contemplating a "vacation" at home. Anyone ever done this? Share you ideas for what you did.

The reason we like some holidays at home is that we get to relax without driving around, sort out the home, see friends we do not see during school time. I also say to my kids that each of them can chose a number of special things to do. The number is determined by how long the holiday is. for our long 6 week holiday at the end of the year they each choose 3 things. Shorter holidays like the 2 weeks we have coming now they get to choose 1 thing.
I also schedule "mommy things" where I get a day to stay at home and do a big job - like painting my bedroom cupboards or a gardening project. As nice as it is to get away - we like to camp for 3 weeks - I do enjoy our SAH holidays too! I've always fantasized about taking a week to visit all the local museums. (We live near Chicago so it is a goldmine.)
I wonder if we'd really do it, though. Christine |
