I'm hoping, someday soon, that I'll actually know what we're having for supper more than an hour before we start fixing it! Right now it's pretty much day-to-day planning (or lack of planning). We did start something new recently, though, that is working well. Each of my girls (ages 12, 14 and almost 16) gets one night a week to be the "assistant cook" with the goal of them eventually taking over fixing dinner on their night. Depending on the meal they can sometimes do that now, but sometimes need help. It has been so nice on those three nights to not have all the dinner prep to do by myself. I know I could have done this years ago, but somehow we just never got around to it. I was going to wait until after we moved but they've all been begging to be allowed to learn to cook more, so now seemed like a really good time to start it. Tonight is my night, though, so I guess I need to get on the ball and figure out what we're going to eat! Smile

Quiver,
My youngest is 12. She and her sisters (14 and almost 16) each have one night of the week that they are "assistant cook" and Tuesday is her night. Last night's meal was pretty simple so she was able to do it all by herself, with just a few verbal instructions from me. It has been SO nice to have these three nights a week that I don't have to fix dinner, and sometimes don't even have to be there to help. I'm loving having teenagers!!

I actually know what we're having for supper tonight -- well, sort of. We're eating at church! Our church has a dinner on Wednesday night before church services begin. My girls will all eat there, so I don't have to feed them or clean up afterwards! My husband & I will eat at home, probably sandwiches or leftovers, and will have a couple of hours "childless".
