Anyone have a child who is questioning their faith? How have you handled this and gotten them back on track?

Hello Christine
I wouldn't exactly say my oldest is questioning her faith but she is questioning many things related to God and her relationship with Jesus. She gave her life to the Lord at 5 so she was very young and has more or less grown in her faith through ours as parents. I see her questions as a valuable part of maturing into the person God wants her to be. She needs to transition from our faith to one that stands on its own in her heart because SHE believes and not because we do it in our family. I don't believe that a child who questions has lost track...but it could possibly lead to that if we as parents do not create many opportunities (child led) to let them talk about their doubts in a gentle and loving environment. Our approach with Jessica has been to let her speak her mind and to give her our point of view then connect her with the scriptures that speak about those issues and then leave her to study and spend time with God. It is after all her relationship with Him that needs to be built and the only way that can happen is through her doing the "work". Just my thoughts, Blessings Wendy www.homeschool-curriculum-for-life.com "A child is a person in whom all possibilities are present - present now at this very moment - not to be educed after many years and efforts manifold on the part of the educator."
