I'm still trying to finish this year! We have six weeks left of our school year so we'll barely finish by the end of June. Then we'll take a break and start back after Labor Day. I have started planning for next year, though. Our co-op schedule is out so we've decided what classes each of the girls will take there. I can't do a lot more until we get in our house and get all of our stuff, since most of my books and supplies are packed and I can't remember what I already have and what I still need to buy. I do know what courses each of the girls will take, but won't really finalize anything until July after we're in our house.

Hi, i'm new to homeschooling. I have a 13 year old and for the last two years in public school he has been making "f's" in all classes. So i'm taking it into my own hands to teach him. We will be going back over 6th and 7th grade material to make sure he knows it and then working some 8th into it. i will start his homeschooling the first part of July. I have a few months already that i have typed up and lesson plans and tests made. I plan on starting him out with a "light" load for a few months and then add more to it. My ? is: Bible study, how to incorporate it into the lessons. any suggestions??
Thank you, Tammie mother of 2 teenagers. |

Hi Tammie,
How about taking him to a Christian bookstore and let him browse the teen section? He might find a devotional he's really excited about. It's not too early to introduce him to Josn McDowell, He's written books like More than a Carpenter and Don't Check Your Brains at the Door. Finally, there's nothing like just diving into Scripture. Pick a book to read and read a few chapters together each day and discuss them. God bless you! Christine |

I have begun with DonnaYoung.com where there are a ton of printables. I know the woman who created the site via online boards and she's a good Christian woman with a whole lot of homeschool years behind her. She has a lot of planning ideas to help out.

I've finally been able to get a good start on our planning for next school year. I had hoped to have all the house stuff unpacked before I started on school stuff, but that didn't happen. So I just started dividing my time between the two. Then two weeks ago I hurt my back and haven't been able to do any lifting or unpacking boxes, so it pretty much forced me to do the school plans instead (much easier on my back!) I have everyone's curriculum all planned, except I may be making a couple of changes. I have assignment sheets done for everyone up to Thanksgiving, except for their co-op classes. I can't really fill in those assignments until co-op starts next month. We've also worked out our basic schedule and decided who will work where, and where we'll store everything. That was a bigger deal than usual since we're in a new house, so we basically had to start from scratch on how to organized things. Our summer break is going by way too fast for me! We start back to school September 4, which is the same day that our co-op starts.
