I'm uing FIAR and Time4Learning for my 2 sons. Trying to figure out if that will be enough. Both of my boys are also doing soccer and martial arts and considering music lessons. I think that will keep them busy.

Andrea,
What is Time4Learning? Never heard of that! Christine |

Christine,
Time4Learning helps with remedial work when kids are just learning letters and numbers. It is online and doesn't allow the kids to go anywhere unsafe. Both of my boys have been enjoying their time on there. I think it may go up to later elementary ages but not positive. Andrea |

I had to laugh when I read this! I've spent tons of money thru the years... Here's what my 12d says: *don't allow the children to write in their workbooks so we can save them for the next child. *If it breaks, fix it with duct tape *buy only what's needed. Are math manipulatives really necessary or will cheerios work just as well? *Buy second-hand Here's some more: *Accept gifts. They could be answered prayer from God *Reuse old textbooks from your highschool days, they were good enough for you! *Print out free math sheets and color pages from online sources *pick up some used mathbooks from the local ps. I don't reccommend using ps history or science books published after 1970, even though that's what I grew up with. *Make due with what you have I'll think of more later This message has been edited. We have a large dry erase board on the wall by the dining table that we use for our daily To Do, Prayer list, practice math, spelling, anything practice thing that I don't need to keep a copy. They like writing in different colors and it's big enough to hold a lot. 6x4 from a local school for free.

Hello Tina,
I can tell you that God has been my best reource and curriculum advisor. He has always led me to a person or curriculum or fair to help me find what is best for my daughter. I have never heard of Zion Academy. What grade is your daughter in? I began homeschooling my daughter in 7th grade - after many months in prayer, God led us down the path and it has been such a blessing for us. Depending on her age, why she is having problems in public school [ie: learning, boredom, problems concentrating, social] before you enroll her in an academy - you need to know if it meets her needs. If she is in middle school - you might want to consider a Coop [where they learn with other homeschoolers] being by herself might with video could be an issue. Depending on her age going from spoonfeeding in public school to on-her-own at home is another issue to consider. You know her needs best and with prayer God will lead you. I would be happy to answer any questions you have. In HIS service, Deneen |
