I was able to obtain some real bamboo that was growing behind a neighbor's house. I've cut the tops off and I'm letting it dry out (it's still green). What ideas do you have that I can use with the bamboo?
I plan on using bamboo to make either a surf shop that will go on the stage in the sanctuary (just 1 1/2 wall facing out) or , if I can get enough, a bigger version to use as a sign in area. I'm thinking I can lay it out side by side on 2 or 3 4x4s and drill screws to each one to hold it. It's going to be some trial and error but I think it will work. Good luck!! Mark
We used 10-15 poles on either side of foyer entrance as a background for styrofoam surfboards we hand cut and painted. One of the surfboards had ABC with Admit, Believe, Confess. Back to bamboo...we cut and tied together about 8 pieces with 3 smaller pieces on the back (like a raft), but used it as a sign for registration. We used two pieces to support our VBS coloring contest drop box. We laminated signs for all of the rotation areas and tied them onto 4-5' bamboo poles. We even used one bamboo stick for correcting children...just kidding. We used some to build a tiki hut. The real bamboo was awesome.
