Let's share some ideas for teen volunteering or internships! How did you find out about the opportunity?

My oldest did a volunteer job through the county Parks & Recreation Department when we lived in Florida. She helped one or two afternoons a week with a kids' gymnastics class. We found out about that because my youngest daughter took a class through Parks & Rec. Two of my girls also volunteered in our church library for a while. I was training to take over as the librarian, so I just included them in my job and they trained right along with me. I think everything else they've done has either been through Girl Scouts or the church youth group.

We live in Bulgaria, so our daughter works alongside us in ministry. During her 10th grade year I hope she can do this more and take on more responsibility. I never even hoped she would get a job, but a dear classmate of our son spends several hours a week with our daughter speaking English. Our daughter plans various activities, reads books or plays games with this little girl, who has lived with her family in the US, UK, and Germany, though her family is Bulgarian. This is a great opportunity for our daughter and she does well with it. Occasionally she also can babysit. Our city has a very small expat community and Bulgarians rely heavily on their grandparents to take care of children. They are horrified to think that teens care for children in the US and get paid for it!
