I am the mother of two wonderful children. My dd is 11 and my ds is 14. This will be our second year of homeschooling. Things in the public school just got to be unacceptable so we pulled them out and began the homeschooling thing. My only regret is not doing it sooner. It was in my heart from the time our son was born but there was no support here. Finally, after two years of trying to work things out through the school's chain of command and much prayer we just bit the bullet and did it. I have one friend who also does it and we encourage each other. It is wonderful. It works for our family much better than we ever thought it would. My kids are happy and are enjoying being the children that they are instead of trying to grow up so fast. They do miss the social aspects of public school but we work really hard at getting them together with their best friends. We also do soccer, baseball, softball, 4-H, Girl Scouts and the youth activities at our church. My husband and I are so glad that we did this. I encourage those who are contemplating it to give it a shot ~ public school will always be there but your kids are only in your household for a short time.
