Hi Everybody,

I just joined today and I thought I'd introduce myself. I am a sah/homeschooling mom with 2 daughters, ages 8 3/4 (she'll be 9 in January) and 7. My 8 yo has Asperger's and my 7 yo has adhd combined and asthma. We live in the northeast, usa. We are a Christian family but are currently looking for a new church.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everybody here and learning a lot as well.

Hi Chris! I'm so happy to see your post! I too have two kids w/ special needs! My oldest is developmentally delayed and my daughter is mildly dyslexic. Where you nervous to start home schooling? I worry that I won't be able to do it "correctly"!!!

Toodles,

Kelly!

Hi Kelly,

I was nervous at first. In fact, my oldest started out in the public school but it was a nightmare. We didn't know about her having Asperger's at the time. All of her issues started coming out while she was in Kindergarten.

IMO, teaching a child school isn't much different from teaching them other things they ask you. Of course, you follow a curriculum and it does help! I can't say I do it perfectly, but with God's help, I'm doing the best I can. He does work through us in spite of our best efforts. Wink

Hello,

I am a single mother homeschooling my fifth grade son. Public school was a nightmare for many reasons. Gossip and slander by an angry ex-husband banned from the US, a male teachers physical assault against my son that administration wanted to cover-up by adding to the gossip and slander, bullying that was not being addressed, and favortism. Most of this at the hands of people who professed their Christianity. We have even been ignored out of one church after the other and now attend online.

I struggle to be a single parent, educating my child, as I am now a full time student at the community college studying Web Design. I also work 10-12 hours in my field of study. I would love to get encouragment from sisters who can love us where we are at. I love Beth Moore and her studies as they have helped me to grow immensely.

Prayerfully,
Dawn
