Our new house is coming along. We still don't have a closing date but we're hoping to be in by the end of June, or at least mid-July. We went to the design center yesterday and were able to see all the options we chose (actually, my sister chose them for me). I finally know what my carpet, tile, countertops and cabinets will look like! The girls went with us, and we all loved everything! It was pretty exciting, almost like Christmas. It made me even more anxious to get moved in. We meet with the builder today for a pre-drywall inspection, so hopefully we'll know more of the timeline after that. Last weekend we went out for a look and they had installed the fireplace, but unfortunately they put in the wrong one (gas instead of wood burning) so that will have to be swapped out. Other than that things are moving right along. We won't get to go this weekend since we'll be out-of-town, but plan to go back out on the 20th.

Man o man I would not do well with that stress. We painted windows this weekend and it was miserable. I can't imagine making all those building decisions - we can't even decide on a paint color!
God bless you, Lori!

We had the inspection on Thursday. The house is coming along really well and they still expect us to go to closing before the end of June. The fireplace issue was a big misunderstanding (I guess) and it turns out we do have a gas fireplace after all. Not what we expected, but it will be okay. It's actually very pretty, and probably cleaner than a wood burning one, just not what we thought when we chose that option. Oh, well! They were supposed to start the drywall today or tomorrow, put the driveway in this week, and the brick has been delivered and ready to be put on the outside of the house. We're planning to go out this weekend for another look and expect to see some big changes. Once the drywall is up (which should be finished this week or early next week) everything else moves along pretty fast. It's really exciting, but I'm very ready for it to all be over!

We went out to the house on Saturday and then our salesman called last night with an update. When we were there they were just finishing up the drywall, and the brick was all finished on the outside. Yesterday he said they had completed the drywall and done the texturing on the walls, and should be painting by next week. They are supposed to pour the driveway this week, weather permitting. He thought the cabinets might be delivered week after next, but he couldn't guarantee that. We're going out again on Saturday for another look. With the drywall done and walls textured, the inside will look pretty much like "a real house", which is pretty exciting! I was hoping they'd get it painted this week, but our weather has been kind of rainy so I think it's taking longer for everything to dry, which slows things down a little.

We went out to see our house again today. On the inside they've really made a lot of progress. The walls are textured and ready to paint, which will probably happen this week. The doors are all installed, and most of the baseboards and trim are done. On the outside they have it ready to be painted and installed the garage door. Our salesman met us there and said he thought they might be ready to install the cabinets next week, but he wasn't sure. He also said that they are still pushing to have us moved in by the end of June! We'll probably go out every weekend from now on since so much is being done each week.

We went out to check on our house yesterday. The entire house has been painted, including the doors. The bathroom cabinets are in and the lower kitchen cabinets are in. Most of the light fixtures have been installed. The driveway and sidewalk are framed and ready to pour, but they're waiting for others on the block to be ready so they can pour them all at once. They're still pushing for an end of June closing date, and we are very hopeful!

Our salesman called us last night. We finally have a closing date! Our preliminary inspection is June 21 and our closing is set for June 28. If all goes as planned, we will be in our new house before the end of June! We're calling the movers today to schedule them, then will start scheduling all of our local area deliveries (furniture, appliances, etc). We are all very excited!

We went out to the house yesterday. The kitchen cabinets are all installed, all of the baseboards/trim is installed, the A/C and lights were working, the repairs and touch-up work on the outside has been done, the sidewalk is complete, and all of the tile work is done. Everything looks great! This week they'll be installing the granite countertops in the kitchen, and I assume they'll be putting in the appliances and the bathroom sinks and toilets. I think they'll install the carpet, too, and whatever else is left. We have our pre-closing inspection on Thursday so everything should be done by then, or at least very close to it. Then the final inspection is next Wednesday, closing is Thursday, and we move in on Friday! Less than 2 weeks to go and we'll be living in our new house, finally!

My goal was to finish school for this year before we move. I think my youngest will finish Wednesday or Thursday, but I don't think the other two will make it. Ana may finish everything except science, but Aly has quite a bit still to go. She's been in driving school this month (to get her learner's permit) so that is taking up a lot of her time. Hopefully by the end of July she'll get done, though, so she can have at least a short break before we start back next year.
