Wow! That would be quite a screen name!! Big Grin

We're settling in pretty well here. I ventured out again today and took two of my girls shopping, but separately. Yesterday I took all three, and decided that was not the best plan! The shopping center (the only one I know how to find) isn't that far from here, maybe 5 minutes, so it's worth driving back and forth to take the girls separately. My youngest got some more shirts that she needed, and my middle daughter got THREE jackets/coats for $30 total! Talk about a great sale!! It's supposed to get very cold this weekend and she didn't have a warm coat, so now she's all set.

Tomorrow & Friday it's supposed to rain so we may not go anywhere. My oldest daughter wants me to take her shopping, so we might try that in the morning before the weather gets yucky. Then we're going to start unpacking the school stuff and figure out where we are in that so we can start back next week.

Quiver, too bad you can't come with hubby. We might be able to meet -- but only if you were near the only shopping center I know how to find. I'm not brave enough to drive anywhere else. Wink

Hi Ladies saw the last couple of posts and thought I'd drop in.

I've been trying to limit my computer time. As you know easier said than done. We have a whole string of "things" going on ..... but I think I'll spare you the details. The short of it is extreme money, time, and spiritual stress. Hey, it's definitely making us into something better!!! So I won't complain.

Remember me saying something about a lady I met online that lives 3-4 hours away from me. Well we've been e mailing and kinda " studying" dif things thankfully she is really similar in thought and we are spurring each other on to godliness.

I'm especially sensitive to making changes in myself ( really all the Lord's work ) that will lead me to be more submissive and give my dh a chance to grow in his role.

It is really hard cry, sniffle .... I wish it wasn't so painful but I know it will be worth it and that The Lord wants this of me.

I'm so glad you are settling in Lori ...

Quiver, sorry everyone's sick. Take care.

Been missing you both.

TTYL

We shopped again today, this time for shoes. The girls are finding that you can't wear flip-flops all the time in Texas, at least not in January! They each bought two pairs of closed-toe shoes (six pairs total) and I spent $100. I thought that was pretty good! We also spent part of our gift cards we got for Christmas at Bath & Body Works. That was fun! Then we came home and I started unpacking the school stuff. I won't finish that until tomorrow so it's all stacked all over the dining room table for now.

My son called and I talked to him for a while. That was a nice surprise. I haven't really talked to him much since we got here. He sounded lonely, but also a little sad about having to leave his friends. He'll be here Monday and I'm hoping he really likes it here so he won't feel so bad.

Now we're cleaning out clothes to see who still needs to go shopping. Lots of fun!

Husband got hurt on Thursday night. He was playing Broomball with our children and some other large, homeschooling families, Wink when he slipped on the ice and fell flat on his back. Eek He has been in a lot of pain since. and went to a chiropractor Friday morning.

The chiro. gave him some relief. Smile

The xrays don't show any broken bones, however the L5 vert. is now twisted to the right. He is having some sort of muscle spasm on the left side and can't pick up his left foot. Ultra sound shows that Kidneys seem okay but we're still having to watch for blood in output.

He also hit his head when he slipped and I can't tell if his "fog" is from pain or hitting his head.

He is back at the chiropractor today but may have to go to an MD for an MRI. Frown

Please pray for him! Slipping on the ice is how a dear friend died back in November and I have been a little nervous. (Of course Mr Hunt was 79 and never regained conscienceness but I've been a little worried for Clint.)

I think I'll copy and paste this post into the prayer thread.

Quiver,

I'll pray! One of the first times I really saw my dh in a lot of pain was from a slip on icey stairs and falling onto concrete!!!

I will never forget that. It hurt me to see that happen to him!

I hope Clint will regain his self in a short while and that you'll all 'baby' him so he'll never forget how good you were to him Wink but forget the pain he will leave behind as he gets better.

It's been cold and rainy all weekend. We didn't get to church like we had planned but hope to go next weekend. This morning hubby & I have an appointment to get our car insurance switched over to Texas, this afternoon my sister has a delivery coming so we need to be here to accept that, and then this evening my son gets here! His plane lands around 5 PM and hubby will pick him up from the airport. If the weather and traffic aren't too bad they should be home by 6:00 or so. I was going to go, too, but I think I'll stay home and get dinner ready instead so we can all eat together when they get home.

We're all battling a little bit of colds or allergies or something. I think mostly it's just adjusting to the new climate, but it seems to be getting a little better so hopefully we'll all be well within a few days.

Quiver,

Been praying for you all.
My dh was talking about the ice today and how we need to be careful. I told him about your dh.
Which reminded me to pray for you which led to a discussion about your mac book lOl Wink

My dh said that he would suggest that you call Apple directly and say you've had it with your mac book and is there any way that they would give you a Power book G4 _ it's an older model but dh who reads a lot about macs says should be more reliable Cool
Hope you don't mind the unsolicited advice

Was just thinking of you Smile

Are you all getting better from your sickies.

I noticed we all got some sinus type thing after we moved I think it's part of the stress the body goes through and Yes you are so right about getting use to a different environment. We didn't move to a dif state but noticed an effect on us.

Also when we moved form a bigger city out to the more rural areas we had a great improvement of health just based on better air quality I think!

We so rarely get sick now.

Sympathy for all you've gone through but rejoicing you are finally on the other side!!

Continued prayers for your new house ventures.

Love Jacinda

Jacinda,
Thanks for the prayers. We're getting better but not quite well yet. My middle daughter had something in her eye, not sure if it was an infection or what. That seems to be almost well now. I'm still coughing and congested and my throat gets really dry, but it's a little better than it was. Because of the blood pressure medication I'm on I can't take any cold or allergy medicines, so I just have to wait it out. That's probably better for me anyway.

It's very cold here this week. Most of the schools and many businesses are closed. My husband and sister both went to work but not until later than usual, and I'm hoping they'll get off early so they can get home before it gets too bad. Most of the highways are closed because of ice so they have to take the back roads. It's a good day for the rest of us to stay inside!

We're starting back to school today (not yet, but we'll get there eventually). I hope to get about a half day's worth of work done, and hopefully a full day tomorrow. I think we'll all do better once we can get into a routine of sorts.

We're planning to go check on our house this weekend and walk thru the model again. My son got in last night and he hasn't seen it yet, and neither has my oldest daughter, so they're anxious to see what we have to look forward to. My sister is also planning to make an appointment with the design center so I can go out and see the carpet, tile, countertops, etc, that she helped me pick out for our house. I've seen some of them on-line, but others she just had to describe to me, so that will be a lot of fun.

LOL!!! Jacinda, tell your DH that my geeky son HAS been on the phone with Apple... Son thinks the same thing but Apple said they are going to send a replacement if I have one more issue so I'm holding out... My Husband and son think I'm nuts. The older Apples really don't have issues but I'm hoping for a fix...

Husband is improving. He is still sore but is able to walk and return to work. The San Antonio trip has been cancelled, of course, but he's due to go to Atlanta on Sunday. I hope the plane ride isn't bumpy!

The sickies are sloooowly leaving. A few still have scratchy throats but school marches on! LOL!

Thanks for the prayers, Jacinda, and the email!!!! That was a wonderful surprise! Smile

Well, I sort of posted my "chat" in my reply to Christine in the prayer thread... Smile

I got up this morning to find a mouse in my kitchen. I hate mice. Why do they always seem to show up when the husband is away? I got my MIL over to help me scrub, disinfect, and de-tox my rodent infested home. If I see one, I figure I must have hundreds. I had 18s put out traps this evening to see if we can catch the invaders before we get The Plague or something.

mice and roaches are two of God's creation that I don't think are so wonderful. Red Face

How are you Lori?

Quiver
Do yu live in the country? The mousies must be trying to get warm When I was growing up we lived near a huge open field and every winter we'd spot a mouse or two and set the traps!!! Never dealt with the R word and hope never to!

Hope after all the scrubbing you'll feel better.

I have to scrub our main room's carpet like every 3-4 weeks or I can't function It get's too dirty for my comfort other wise. I hoping for a non carpet flooring install this spring.

Happy mouse hunting. My kids would probably like the excitement Big Grin

Hi all,
It's hard to get on-line as much as I'm used to. With six people sharing one computer, and a pretty sllloooowwwww computer at that, it's a challenge. I'm still battling the allergy or whatever it is, but I'm feeling some better. I still have a sinus headache and my throat stays dry constantly. I must go through a package of cough drops every day. But my throat isn't sore anymore and I'm not as congested as I was, so I'm making progress.

I called and got an appointment to get in to see a doctor here so I can get started back on treatment for the heart thing. My appt isn't until Feb 9 so I know I'll be on medication at least until then, but I have plenty of it now so that will work. I think that's a Friday, which is a good thing since my hubby plans to take off work to go with me and that's his best day to be off.

We started back to school yesterday "sort of" and are struggling to get started today still (and it's "only" 12:30 in the afternoon!) My oldest got her work done yesterday, my youngest did one assignment, but I don't think my middle daughter did anything. Hopefully today will be more productive.

Our middle daughter is mad at us because we won't let her get a cell phone. Our rule is they have to be 16 and have a "real job" and pay for it themselves. She's 14 and has a babysitting job (promised to her but hasn't actually started yet) and wants to just pay the $10 add-on fee. Not gonna happen! So she's mad, but she'll get over it. We did agree to get an add-on phone when we start our new plan, but it will be for the three girls to share. The other two are fine with that, and I'm sure it will work out in the end.

We have an orientation meeting with our builder on the 31st. We'll meet the builder and all the other people who are having houses built on our street. Then I think they'll actually start construction. Our tentative closing date isn't until late June, but we're hoping things will speed along and we'll get moved in sooner than that.

Now I really need to get off here and start school. I'll check in again when I can.

He's only been gone 6 days this time but I've been so worried about his back and the children have still been sick. It will be good to have us all under one roof again.

How is everyone?

We went out to look at our new house today. There's still no house there, but they have started framing in the foundation and cleared the lot of the extra trees. We also walked thru a model home of the same floor plan. It isn't finished yet, but the walls are up and painted and the doors installed so we could get a very good idea of the space we'll have. It was the first time my oldest daughter had seen any of it so that was pretty exciting for her, I think. Wednesday evening we have a meeting with our builder so we should get more details then as to the timeline of everything.

Quiver, I'm glad your husband is back home. I'm sure you're all happy about that! Has his back healed okay?

We're planning to attend church in the morning at the same church the girls went for youth group on Wednesday. Then in the afternoon we're driving out to the base where I'll be going for my doctor appointments until after we move to our house (then we'll transfer to another base).

We had the meeting with the builders today and met a couple of our future neighbors. One couple had 3 little girls (which my daughters will hope could be a babysitting job). The other couple will live across the street from us. The guy is in the Air Force so he and my hubby had a lot to talk about. The builder couldn't give us an estimated closing date yet. He said once they get to installing the cabinets they'll give us a date 45 days out from there. We're thinking it will be in June probably.

On the way home we stopped and ate dinner, and it was nice to have some "couple time" for a change. My son is working until closing tonight but the rest of us will be at home watching the Spurs game. My sister is a huge Spurs fan and has converted the rest of us (at least most of us). There's another game tomorrow night and it's on late. The girls want to stay up and watch, but they only get to do that if they finish all their school work for the week before the game starts. So far they're working hard and I think they'll make it!

Nice that you got to meet the neighbors.
PPL stay to themselves around here.

We've been here for a while and not gotten a wave or a hello from most everyone! Sigh ... I'm so opposite of that I like being neighborly.

I was praying for one of our neighbors yesterday cause they had an ambulance and two police cars at there home for hours. They are a little older with at least one teen still at home. I hope the dh didn't have a heart attack or something! Noticed they didn't go to work today though.

well we are okay but sick and still struggling with our financial issues.
I'm gonna go to bed early tonight!
Yesterday I tried something new I took some b12 and bee pollen supplements as I was wanting to be available to the sick kids no nap for me or breaks.... I was " moving" from 8 am - 12 am ! I was brain dead but getting stuff done and it wasn't a nervous energy like what coffee does to me but just really extended my stamina!

Might want to try it sometime ...I think I only need to take one pollen tablet ( I'd taken two)

Anyway take care Smile

Today is my son's 19th birthday. We actually celebrated last night since he was off work and he has to work today.

My niece is flying in from Oklahoma today. She's getting married in May and she and her mom (my sister that we're staying with) have wedding plans to work on. Today I'm going with them for her bridal gown fitting, then we're all going out to lunch together. She'll only be here for the weekend and this is the first time we've seen her since we've been here so it will be nice to get to visit for a while.

My girls finished all their school work so they got to stay up and watch the Spurs game last night. I only made it to half time and then went to bed (at 11 PM) so I'm not sure how late they were up. I expect them to sleep most of the morning, but I'll probably wake them whenever my niece gets here, which I think will be around 10 AM.

Everyone's been pretty quiet lately. I hope all is going well!
