She said to buy some foam board (the big sheets that you can get at Lowe's). Paints the boards like a yellow color. Then use a squeegee on it horizontally. This would make rivets in the foam board. Then she said to paint the foam boards a brown color. This would make it look like a bamboo texture.

party city has "scene setters" .. different backgoound prints.. one is a bamboo wall that is 50 FEET for 20 bucks.. NO painting necessary!! They also have beach scenes, underwater scenes etc. All are tropical. We are getting the bamboo for the bible beach huts.. they also have scene setter window views.. pk of 3/ 2.99 .. cant beat it.. the windows can stick on the bamboo.. looks out to beach...

You have to cut notches in the squeegee before dragging it on the board. Go to my church website, www.boonetrail.net and click on the VBS registration logo, then at the bottom of that page see Decorating ideas and pictures. I have it all there, including pictures of the tiki wall backdrop and the how-to.

This is exactly what I want to do to my room but was wondering if paper could be painted and come out with the same effect?
