Big Lots has ordered and received all Hawaiian supplies. Tablecloths/$1.00, Palm Tree leaves, hula skirts, tiki candles, bamboo mats, placemats, all Luau supplies at really great prices.

I also picked up Luau supplies at Big Lots. You must visit this website...www.christianarea.com I have order from them the last three or four years. Great stuff. Nice prices. I love the beach kid magnets they have this year.

Just a thought. Since tikis are images of gods or ancestors and we are trying to teach the children about the true God, my opinion is that we should try to avoid using the tiki "images" in our decorations. Tiki torches are fine, but the tiki "faces" are not fine. What does everyone else think about this subject?

For what it's worth, I'm pretty conservative when it comes to pagan recognitions, and I think we should always consider the potential risks. I would feel plenty secure, in our community, in displaying the tiki images because I'm certain that our children would not make the false god association there, but if you feel differently about the children you'll be teaching, you should definitely err on the side of caution.

I will not be using tiki's (only the torches). I know some of the parents would have a problem even if the kids didn't realize the connection to pegan gods.

Myself I will not be using the tikis only the torches. I feel the same that they are too much like idol gods and would be sending the wrong message to our children.
